Trusted Assessor Training (provided by DLF)
Accredited with the Open College Network (OCN): 2 Credits at Level 2
Course overview: DLF’s accredited Trusted Assessor Training supports Foundations work. The Trusted Assessor approach, with a thorough understanding of daily living aids, equipment and adaptations, enables clients to live as safely and independently at home for as long as possible.
The Trusted Assessor Training is delivered over two days, with a work-based assignment to be carried out at the end of the course. The course covers the basics of assessment, task analysis, safety issues and a range of equipment e.g. chair raisers, bed raisers and rails, toilet equipment and rails, banisters and outdoor rails and household equipment.
The course encourages learner participation and is delivered through a combination of presentations, practical activities and written tasks. Formal assessments are in the form of a multiple choice questionnaire, a practical activity and a written exercise.
A comprehensive handbook and an OCN certificate are issued to each learner who successfully completes the course. The two days' training should be seen only as the start of the learner’s journey to becoming a competent and experienced provider of basic equipment. It is hoped that each learner will be offered appropriate and adequate support in the workplace following the training e.g. in the form of a mentor.
Cost: Foundations and DLF have agreed discounted rates for training for the HIA sector.
