'Beyond the Front Door' Dementia and Housing Conference CambridgeDate: Wednesday, 13 June 2018
Time: 10:00 to 15:30
Location: Hallmark Hotel, Bar Hill, Cambridge, CB23 8EU
Organised by: Life Story Network and Foundations
Our home – the place and the people – provides a major focus in our lives and is particularly important when we face transitions such as discharge from hospital or following a diagnosis of dementia. 'Beyond the Front Door' will explore issues relating to the concept of ‘home’ to better understand their importance in relation to the sense of identity and wellbeing for people living with dementia.
The conference will be an opportunity for occupational therapists, housing support sectors, social housing providers, commissioners and those working in the voluntary sector to come together to learn from the Life Story Network’s ‘Beyond the Front Door’ report, support the development of toolkits and begin to embed responses to dementia in to projects and programmes of work relating to the home.
Our event will be informed and led by people living with dementia, and will include policy context, practical examples of best practice, expert panel discussions and workshops.
This event will be co-located with OTAC and offered free of charge. There will be fresh tea and coffee throughout the day and plenty of places to relax, network and grab a bite to eat either through the on-site buffet or in the hotel's own restaurant.
