Foundations' plans for 2017

Happy New Year to everyone involved in repairs, improvements and adaptations. Foundations’ current workplan runs through to the end of March, so I’ll reflect back on the year then. I’m currently preparing our workplan for next year so wanted to share with you some of things we’re planning for 2017.

DFG Champions is my favourite new initiative. The Facebook group - facebook.com/groups/DFGChampions – now has over 150 members and we’re going to be doing two more rounds of roadshows in the spring and autumn. The last round sold out, so make sure you get in quick if you want to go.

There won’t be a HIA conference this year, but look out for the DFG Champions Conference in September.

We’re working on some exciting new training options for you. There’s a one day course on cluttered homes and hoarding now available and we’ve got lots more new courses coming soon; including short online CPD, free level 2 qualifications and a range of apprenticeship options that are available for all ages.

More new tools and resources are on the way too. Did you know that 28% of homes are not considered feasible to adapt? Coming soon, we’ll be looking at the case for supporting people to move instead.

We’re also working on solutions for procurement, equity release and self-funders – find out first by following our twitter feed.

I went to lots of meetings, seminars and conferences last year and it struck me that I heard the same things many times. Some things many, many times. This year I’m going to make a point of going to some events from adjacent areas of work, where I don’t know anybody and I might learn something new or make interesting new contacts. I’ll let you know how I get on!
